Terms of use

You must be 18 or older. One account per person, in your own name. Keep your password to yourself; what happens under your account is your responsibility. Tell us at once if you think somebody else has been using it.

Your tree, your posts and your messages are yours. You give Kinstory permission to store them and show them to the people you have chosen to connect with — that is all we do with them.

A family tree is mostly about other people. Record what is true, and only what you have the right to record. Take particular care with living relatives and with children: if one of them asks you to change or remove something about them, do.

Pretending to be somebody else; harassing, threatening or stalking anyone; posting what is unlawful, hateful or sexual; recording people in order to harm or expose them; trying to get into trees you have not been invited to; automated collection of names, emails or photos; anything that disrupts the service for others.

You can block anyone and report any post. We may remove content and suspend or close accounts that break these rules.

When you accept a connection, that person can see your tree and your family posts, and you can see theirs. Either of you can disconnect or block at any time. Think before you accept a request from somebody you do not know.

Kinstory is provided as it is. We work to keep it available and your data safe, but we cannot promise it will never be interrupted or free of mistakes. Keep your own copy of anything that matters — Settings → Export gives you one at any time.

You can delete your account whenever you like from Settings. It removes everything your account holds, immediately and permanently.

If these terms change in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app and ask you to agree again before you carry on.
